Minivan Puts Me On Hold

There was no mid-April blog entry because I was in a small accident. On the morning of April 16, 2005, I went shopping at a local grocery store. I was pushing my shopping cart to my vehicle and had gotten halfway across the parking-lot road when a minivan turned left into me. She hit the shopping cart first, then me. I was fortunate — no bones broken. However, I had four stitches in my forehead (I’ll have a scar just inside the hairline on the left), the fingers of my left hand were smooshed a little (the scab on my ring finger finally fell off this past week) and I hurt my knee.

The knee injury is what has been preventing me from working on this blog and my website. All my projects (you’ll find them mentioned throughout my website) are on hold until I feel better. I’ve been using a cane since the accident, had to skip one day of work and was recently put in a “knee immobilizer” because the pain wasn’t going away as quickly as it should.

Just a note — if you can avoid the need for a knee immobilizer, do so. It is profoundly uncomfortable, makes it difficult to walk (and go to the bathroom) and impossible to drive (I take it off to drive, which the doctor said was OK). Not to mention, it makes a lousy fashion accessory!

Well, until I’m better …
