Is There a Reason?

Why are we all different?
Is it because
the flowers are so?
Is it because
the animals are so?
Or is it because there is
a lesson to learn?
It would be so simple
to be all of one colour,
all of one faith,
and all of one point of view.
Are we different
because we learn by being different?
Is there some Master Text Book,
and we the pages,
the words,
the questions
and the answers?
Difference must be beneficial
otherwise likeness would be
our condition.
So, is there a reason?
I think there is.

On October 13, 1982, my diary entry consisted of mostly a poem. I now share with you that entry. Just F.Y.I.: each diary was given a name. For my Junior year in High School, my diary was named Duval, after a guy I liked the previous year. He died his senior year in a terrible…
