On Saturday, I heard a self-made millionaire speak. He talked about life being filled with choices and how you move toward your goal by always making the choices that lead you there. That’s what inspired this week’s haiku.

Choices fill your life

This poem, an English class assignment when I was a Junior in High School, was eventually published, at the cost of $35, in the American Poetry Anthology 1986 — my first published poem. It was written in 1983. A tear is a bird set free from its cage of sorrow. The wolf’s lonely cry in…

  • Invisible Cage

Written in February 1983. I am trapped within this cage. I can’t see or feel the cage, but I sense its presence. Is it me? Is it my peers? Is it life? Why can’t I fly? I want to be free! But how can one escape from something unseen,      and untouchable? How can one be…

  • The Monster

  • I feel you …

One of my goals for this year is to get better at relationships. Since I kind of failed in my marriage, my goal is to get it right next time. One of the pieces of advice I’ve been following is this: To attract your soul mate, you must feel that your soul mate is already…
