Now that I live in an area with clearly delineated seasons, I get to enjoy the colours of autumn, too. The rich burgundies, burnt ambers and warm yellows of the leaves falling on the lawns and blowing about the streets.
The air is beginning to get nippy and I can unearth my turtlenecks and cozy sweaters. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons — I have three others, too.
I look forward to Halloween — the costumes, the fun decorations and, yes, even the candy corn! (Sorry Lewis Black, some people actually eat them.)
I wait and plan in anticipation for the Thanksgiving feast — something I usually pull together for two. I get creative, since a turkey is a little big for two. I’ve made Cornish game hens a few times, sometimes chicken and once a ham. I don’t know what I’ll make this year, but I do know I’ll be making it on a gas stove! I haven’t had a gas stove for at least 12 years.
Hmm. Well — enough random thoughts for now. Until next month . . .
