Chaos & Darkness

About a year ago, I contemplated entering a short story contest about the end of the world. This snippet is all I wrote…fully formed as is. I just found it while cleaning up some papers around my office.


In the beginning, there was Chaos and she was a child of darkness. She relished the lack of light, dancing around on her infinite toes to the music of blackness.

And then there was light.

She shrank from its sharpness, withdrawing from its painful burning brightness.
