A fly jit jitters

Written in 1983. I am an atom. I make up molecules. I am a molecule. I make up tissue, bone and flesh. I am tissue, bone and flesh. I create a human being. I am a person. I make up cities. I am a city. I make up counties. I am a county I make…

  • Now I Know Why

This poem, published at poetry.com, was written in 1992 after finding out a friend of mine got together with someone I had had a crush on for a long time. I was O.K. with it but it still hurt. This poem was part of my healing process. Now I know why the wolf howls at…

Written Feb. 26, 1992. Paradise is      space           to grow           to expand           to soar                like a bird      wind           in my hair           in my wings           in my sails                pushing me along the sea Paradise is      the warmth           of the sun                caressing my skin                     gently      freedom to be           anything I want                including nothing Paradise is      the sweet taste…

  • The Apple

Written in 1983. Cobwebs hang from the drawers. The empty seat      covered with dust sits abandoned      by the desk. Death      now sits here looking at thirty desks      aligned in six rows. No more do children laugh      in this place. No more does teacher teach      the students. The Apple      perfectly red sits      untouched           by dust                or…

  • Love Blooms Slowly

This poem, published at poetry.com, was written in 1992 in response to someone I was gradually falling in love with. We had had a discussion about “love at first site” and this poem was the result. Love that comes quickly fades as fast Lasting love blooms slowly culminating in a rose before you knew there…
