Fortune Cookies

evening starI can be kind of a pack rat at times, so over the past few weeks I’ve been going through all my old files and boxes and clearing out the clutter that no longer serves me.

Among the stuff I found a small collection of fortunes plucked from cookies over the years and thought I’d share them with you.

You will travel far and wide for both pleasure and business.
Well, given that my soon-to-be-ex husband couldn’t make up his mind where we should settle down to start a family, that one came true. In the 13 years we were married, we lived in five different states. Within those states, we lived in 11 different cities. And that still doesn’t give you how many times we moved!

Versatility is one of your outstanding traits.
Hmmm. I guess versatility is what happens to you when you need to constantly expand your skill set so you can remain gainfully employed while moving about the country!

You are going to have a very comfortable old age.
Way too young to know if that one will come true!

Adopt a confident, positive attitude and your association will climb on your bandwagon.
Very true … but I don’t have an association or a bandwagon. Maybe that one is still in the future. 🙂

You will be recognized and honored as a community leader.
Well, if I can stay in one community long enough, that is …

Be tactful, overlook not your own opportunity.
Yep … opportunity is around every corner!

You are sprinkled with lucky star dust.
I’ve always liked this one. When I was in my 20s, I uses to where glitter on my face all the time and thus got the nickname “Sparkles.” Adding on that I tend to be lucky, and this one ain’t so far from wrong.

Your marriage will be successful from a material view and happy romantically.
Guess that’s talking about the next one, but it is waaaaay off the mark with my first one.

Two fortunes the same in one bagYou are the evening star in someone’s romantic eye.
This fortune has an interesting story. My friend, college roommate and later housemate, Susy, once bought a bag of fortune cookies. I only ate two cookies out of the entire bag. Both cookies had this exact same fortune! (To prove it, here’s a picture.) None of the other fortunes in the bag were this one. Strange how I just happened to pick the only two cookies out of the bag — on separate days, mind you — that just happened to contain the same fortune. So it must be true! Now if only he’d man up and let me know. 🙂
