And I thought I was was just a moth!

cosmopolitanLast night, I had my first Cosmopolitan. When I asked the waiter which of the drinks on the Happy Hour menu were sweet, he suggested that was the best one to start out with.

Boy, he wasn’t wrong. One taste and I wondered where that drink had been all my life.

This year (and I am aware it is only about six weeks old) is so amazing.

I’m experiencing life like it was all brand new. I’m experiencing dating like I never have before. I’m experiencing people like they are new and fresh and wonderful. I’m experiencing new foods, drinks, activities …

butterflyIt is like I’ve spent the past 10 years in a chrysalis and have just emerged a beautiful new butterfly.

And to think all this time I thought I was just a moth!

I am thoroughly enjoying the ups and downs, twists and turns of my new life. I am exuberantly enjoying learning who I am now … a new version of me … an improved version of me.

I feel like all the really good parts of me … the parts I really like and had to hide away while I was married … are all coming back to the surface. And, those parts of me that weren’t so hot? Well, they’re either gone, evolved into a better serving incarnation, or have changed enough that they aren’t so bad after all.

My marriage was like a metalsmith’s furnace, forging me into a better, stronger, more powerful me. I just had to withstand the flames.

I’m not saying I’m perfect … and really, who is? I’m just saying that I’m realizing that I’m a lot cooler than I ever thought I was … and all those people who would read this and say “Didn’t I already tell you that?” aren’t as misguided and crazy as I once thought they were.

Buffy the Vampire SlayerBattlestar GalacticaI love being able to re-discover, re-invent and re-imagine myself … just like Joss Whedon did for Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Ronald D. Moore did with Battlestar Galactica. This is Carma 2.0 world … and I like her a whole lot!
