Prelude to Suicide

broken heart

This poem was written Friday, Nov. 7, 1980, when I was in Junior High. The first draft was written in my diary, after an entry in which I expressed my frustration of not having a boyfriend.

Oh! How I long for thee
For thy unknown caress
Thy warmth
     one with my own.
To share a caring
     with one
Is like gold
     and yet
          to some
     it is withheld
The pain
     love
          can cause
The torment
     of withheld love
is like an eternal Hades
To long for
     yet
to be unknown
     un-experienced
The infinite longing
     will soon …
          be ended.
